Rain ruins Aussie bid
AUSTRALIA were denied a crucial win in the Champions Trophy as rain washed out their second match in a row and saved Bangladesh from elimination at the Oval.
Bangladesh, who had to avoid defeat to keep alive any hopes of qualification from Group A, were skittled out for 182 but Australia’s stroll to victory was curtailed by bad weather at 83-1. It left them four more overs away from securing a win under Duckworth-Lewis rules.
Their qualification hopes hang in the balance after their game against New Zealand was also hit by rain.
Bangladesh’s Tamim Iqbal hit 95 but fell to Mitchell Starc, who claimed three wickets in four balls and finished with 4-29.
