James’s former love weeps for lost best friend
THE ex-girlfriend of London Bridge victim James McMullan broke down in tears as she visited the scene of the terror atrocity yesterday.
Nicola Smith, 24, stood with hundreds of people in a minute’s silence, which was observed across the UK. Later, she said: “James was the most loving person. I can’t believe he is gone. I will miss him so much.”
Nicola sobbed uncontrollably as she looked at flowers left opposite the spot where James, 32, is feared to have died.
He was last seen smoking a cigarette outside the Barrowboy and Banker pub on London Bridge.
James’s family fear the worst after they were told his bank card was found in the pocket of an unidentified man at the scene.
Nicola split from James nine months ago after four years, but she said the pair, from Hackney, East London, had stayed “best friends”.
She said: “He was a beautiful person inside and out.
“He was so kind, he would never even harm a fly. He was incredible. He was the most sensitive man.”
Nicola, who was at her mother’s house when she saw on Facebook that James was missing, said: “I’m extremely angry, but you can’t let anger win. You need to have love.”
