Social worker sold facts on adoption girl

- BY CLAIRE HAYHURST

A SOCIAL worker traded the address of an adopted child to her birth mother for £2,000.

Androulla Farr, 50, visited the “vulnerable” mum in 2006 and told her she needed money to go to the Dominican Republic.

The mother was “desperate” to know her daughter’s address and raised the £2,000 from family and friends.

Bristol crown court heard she finally wrote to her daughter in 2012, making the girl’s new family so concerned they relocated to a new area.

Farr admitted a charge under the Public Bodies Corrupt Practices Act but walked free from court.

She was sentenced to 16 months’ jail, suspended for 18 months, and must do 250 hours of unpaid work.
