BENITEZ GETS A MIT FED-UP

- BY SIMON BIRD

ALEKSANDAR MITROVIC is likely to become the first victim of Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle shake-up.

The hot-tempered Serb (above) is wanted by Turkish sides Besiktas and Fenerbahce with Toon ready to play ball if they can get close to recouping the £14million they paid Anderlecht for him.

Mitrovic, popular with fans, has failed to win over Benitez, who wants to use the £10m-plus fee to strengthen his squad. The 22-year-old, a stand-in for Dwight Gayle last season, scored four goals in the Championship.

Benitez, who has doubts about bad-boy Mitrovic’s temperament, is close to bringing in England Under-21 striker Tammy Abraham on loan from Chelsea.

Benitez is looking for five or six first-team recruits this summer as Toon prepare for their return to the Premier League.
