Brexit kills deals
Business takeovers crashed in the first three months of this year. The number of deals between UK firms nearly halved, said the Office for National Statistics, as firms put investment on hold in the wake of the Brexit vote. The pound’s slump since last year’s EU referendum also triggered a wave of foreign takeovers of UK firms. But the value of overseas buy-outs slumped from £50billion to £5.1bn in the first three months of 2017.
