Mummy just terrified me, says Cruise

- BY FRANCESCA GOSLING

TOM Cruise was so scared when he saw the original Mummy film as a child he could not sleep alone.

Cruise, 54, who stars in the new remake, first saw the 1932 horror with Boris Karloff when he was six.

He told ITV’s This Morning: “My sisters slept in one room and I had my own… but I’d sneak into their room and sleep on the floor, I was so terrified.”

Karloff played the undead Imhotep, intent on stalking the woman he believes to be his lover.

In the new film, Cruise is a soldier who accidentally resurrects Princess Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella) while digging up ancient artefacts in Iraq.

The action star did his own stunts again, adding: “You get a little banged up, but I train for it.”
