Caught on CCTV, horrific final moments of attack

CCTV footage claims to show the moment armed police swooped on the terrorists as they stabbed a man.

In the grainy images, one of the black-clad jihadis chases down the bystander who falls to the floor as other attackers pile in.

Chairs and glasses are thrown at the gang as onlookers at Borough Market try to stop the onslaught.

But a split second later, a police car screeches into the frame and armed officers jump out, shooting the attackers dead. An officer comes close to being slashed as one knife-wielding extremist runs at him before being gunned down mid-stride.

Seconds later, another police car arrives, with more armed officers training their guns on the attackers as they lie on the ground.

The footage was circulating on the internet yesterday. Scotland Yard would not verify its authenticity.
