Eighth victim in the Thames

-

THE death toll in the London Bridge attack rose to eight after police recovered the body of a French tourist in the Thames.

Xavier Thomas, 45, had been missing since Saturday after he was apparently struck by the jihadists’ hired van as he walked with girlfriend Christine Delcros.

Marine officers found Xavier’s body near Limehouse, three miles downstream from London Bridge. His girlfriend remains in hospital with “irreparable” pelvis injuries.

Their trip to London was a last-minute romantic break, which Xavier had told Christine about only the weekend before.

Police have confirmed the names of the other seven victims. They were: James McMullen, 32, of Hackney, East London; Alexandre Pigeard, 27, and Sebastian Belanger, 36, from France, Sara Zelenak, 21, and Kirsty Boden, 28, from Australia, Christine Archibald, 30, from Canada, and Ignacio Echeverria, 39, from Spain.
