PAKISTAN PUNISH PROTEAS

-

PAKISTAN sprung a Champions Trophy surprise on South Africa with a stunning 19-run Duckworth-Lewis win at Edgbaston to keep their semi-final hopes alive.

Pakistan were well ahead when rain intervened. Their bowlers, led by Hasan Ali (3-24), were too hot for the Proteas’ batsmen to handle, with AB de Villiers (above) collecting his first ever ODI golden duck.

Reduced to 118-6, it was only 75 not out by David Miller (right) that got them to 219-8. Pakistan flew out of the traps with Fakhar Zaman crunching a quickfire 31, and despite losing three wickets their 119-3 from 27 overs when the rain fell was enough to throw Group B wide open.
