KAT’S 50KM DASH

-

POLAND’S Katarzyna Niewiadoma made a 50km breakaway to win stage one of the Women’s Tour.

The 22-year-old (right) raced clear on the 147.5km-course, which started in Daventry and finished in Kettering. She said: “When I attacked, I wasn’t really thinking. I just chose the moment. I expected somebody to join me, but I was alone and thinking, ‘Oh no, there’s 50km to go!’.” Alice Barnes, 21, was the highest British finisher in seventh.
