Team snubs silence for victims

-

SAUDI Arabia footballers snub a minute’s silence for the London Bridge terror victims as the Australia team bow their heads in respect.

Most of the Saudi players strolled off or stood in their positions while the Aussies linked arms to remember the dead, who included two Australians, at their World Cup qualifier in Adelaide.

Saudi coaches and substitutes in the dugouts were said to have refused to stand as most of the crowd observed the silence. Many Saudi supporters shouted throughout, however.

A spokesman for the Football Federation of Australia said they were told before the game the Saudi team would not take part. Australia won 3-2.
