Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers

- BY JEFF PARSONS

Street Fighter II, originally released in 1991, is well regarded as one of the best fighting games ever made. And developer Capcom has taken just about every opportunity to re-release it.

This revamped version for the Nintendo Switch offers a choice of either the original 90s graphics or a remastered HD version. The most fun to be had comes from the portability of the Nintendo Switch because each Joy Con can be used as an individual controller. That means you can set the console down, hand over a Joy Con to a mate and battle away like it’s 1991 all over again.

A new pseudo-3D first person mode uses the motion controls to pit you against waves of baddies in an addition called Way of the Hado which swiftly becomes repetitive. Street Fighter is as good as it’s ever been, but be aware you’re essentially paying £35 for a 16-year-old game.
