SWING-OUT KIWIS
NEW ZEALAND’S muchvaunted swing attack are hoping to find different ways to beat Bangladesh in Cardiff today.
It has surprised the likes of Tim Southee and Trent Boult that traditional English conditions have not helped the balls to swing.
But the Kiwis are confident they will have enough in the tank to beat Bangladesh and qualify for the semi-finals – as long as England do them a favour against Australia. “You would think it would swing around a bit,” said Boult (left). “It’s a bit disappointing, no one’s really swung the ball. “You would like to see the ball ‘banana-ing’ around, especially at the top of the innings. “But it’s a good challenge to see how you can get wickets in other ways.”
