Trump blasts ex-FBI chief for ‘lies’ over plea to drop probe
DONALD Trump has torn into the testimony of fired FBI director James Comey, saying it was full of “lies”.
The US President claimed “total and complete vindication” after Comey testified to the Senate Intelligence Committee about Russian meddling in last year’s election.
Taking to Twitter at 6.10am, Trump blasted: “Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication...and WOW, Comey is a leaker!” Mr Comey admitted asking a pal to pass on details to the media of his Oval Office talks with the President. He said he did so to counter taunts by Trump on possible secret tapes. The former FBI boss claimed Trump urged him to drop the probe into his election team’s ties to Russia. If true, it could see the President removed for obstructing justice.
