Please don’t get tattooed son...unless I’m with you
Becks plea over Brooklyn’s first inking
DAVID Beckham stopped son Brooklyn getting a tattoo – because he wanted to be by his side when he was inked for the first time.
The ex-England ace, 42, also admitted he feels “emotional” about his eldest son leaving home to go to university.
Beckham, who has 40 tattoos himself, said: “There is nothing I can say [to stop him]... he was 18 pretty recently. He was counting the days down because he was talking about a tattoo for a long time.
“He was with his girlfriend in Paris and one of my friends called me and said, ‘Brooklyn is in a tattoo shop with his girlfriend’.
“He always promised me and I said if you have your first tattoo, I want to be there just to experience it. That was the deal. So I Face-timed him and said ‘what you doing mate?’ and he said ‘we are just going for dinner’ and I said ‘are you sure?’ He said, ‘actually, dad, I am in a tattoo place thinking of getting something and I’m with my girlfriend’.
“I said, ‘you are welcome to have it, but remember you promised me and I am your dad and I would feel really upset if you went through with it’. So he didn’t.”
Brooklyn got his first tattoo with his dad at a later date.
On his son’s move away from home, Becks added: “I never want him to leave and I am very emotional about it. I want the children to live with me always. I am excited for him, because it’s a new journey... but we’re not ready for him to leave.”
