‘I will not rest until I find out who gave Mair that gun’
THE officer who led the probe into Jo’s murder has said he “will not rest” until he finds out who gave Mair the gun he used.
The Nazi enthusiast shot her with a .22 Weihrauch rifle stolen from pest controller Zach Gaughan’s van. But Det Supt Nick Wallen said he still has no idea how the gun came into Mair’s possession.
He said: “It was stolen in August 2015, it has passed through a number of hands before it’s got to Thomas Mair through the criminal fraternity. But we have found no DNA traces or fingerprints of anyone else. “It’s an active line of enquiry and I will not rest until I find how he got that gun.”
After Jo’s death, Mr Gaughan, 24, from Keighley, said was used “I felt guilty. To know my gun to kill someone makes me sick.”
