JIVE TALKING FROM JELENA

-

JELENA OSTAPENKO claims her dance skills can help her quickstep her way to the French Open title today.

The Latvian livewire, who turned 20 on Thursday, will face Romania’s Simona Halep in the final which will see a debutant Grand Slam winner.

World No.47 Ostapenko (left), who swings her forehand faster than Andy Murray, said: “I used to do ballroom dancing from five till I was 12. Now it’s kind of my hobby.

“It really helps my footwork because you need to be very coordinated.”

World No.4 Halep has the extra motivation of becoming world No.1 for the first time with a victory.

“I do not like to think too much about No.1 because it just adds more pressure,” she said. “I always say I play well with the pressure, but I don’t need it.”
