TOTTENHAM star Ricky Villa – whose goal famously won his club the 1981 FA Cup – vowed never to play for the north Londoners again. He flew home and declared: ‘‘Just like Osvaldo Ardiles, I won’t play in a country that is at war with my fatherland.’’ But the Falklands War was over a few days later. Villa returned and played at Spurs for another year. He made 133 appearances in five years there.
