Footie yob fails to dodge jail with ‘terror trauma’ excuse
A FOOTBALL thug tried to avoid jail by telling a judge his daughter had been caught up in the Manchester bombing.
Michael Thompson, 32, broke a rival fan’s jaw, knocking out six teeth, with a single punch in a brawl.
Thompson’s lawyer said his daughter, 10, had been traumatised by the arena attack and jailing him would hit her hard.
Judge Simon Jack ignored the plea, jailing Thompson for two years and giving him a 10-year football ban after he admitted unlawful wounding. The Hull City supporter had punched the man outside a nightclub in the city in an attack by a mob on Middlesbrough fans after a match in 2015.” At Hull crown court three other men were jailed and six given suspended sentences. The judge called it a “disgraceful incident” and the sort “that gives football and supporters a bad name”.
