Judge frees inmate after ‘twin’ found
AN INNOCENT dad who spent 17 years in jail for robbery walked free after cops found his lookalike.
Richard Jones, of Kansas, US, was freed after the witness who helped convict him couldn’t tell the two apart.
They had the same name and lived within a a few miles of each other.
Jones was jailed in 1999 for armed robbery despite telling the court was with his girlfriend at the time.
But in prison fellow inmates told him about a man called Ricky, saying they looked identical.
Jones won a retrial and on Wednesday a judge said there was no evidence to keep him in jail.
Jones said: “When I saw the picture of my double it all made sense to me.”
