Gadget stirs dozy drivers

-

DRIVERS for delivery firm DHL are to test technology that wakes them up if they are about to nod off.

The gadgets clip to motorists’ earlobes and vibrate if they are falling asleep at the wheel.

DHL will try 60 devices this month. They could be rolled out to its 9,000strong fleet and eventually go on general sale.

The Fujitsu kits are already being used by bus drivers in Japan. One in five accidents on major UK roads is sleep-related.
