Staff strikes at threat to Jobcentres

THE new Government is facing fresh strikes over Jobcentre closures.

Members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union at a Sheffield Jobcentre will walk out for five days from today to protest its planned closure.

It is part of the union’s campaign against Government plans to close 78 Jobcentres across the UK.

PCS general secretary Mark Serwotka said: “The cuts make claimants travel further and undermine help to get them into work.

“It also shows contempt for staff in Sheffield and other jobcentres.”

“We will fight any attempt to force workers out of their jobs.”
