Cancer’s 20 hospital days

-

CANCER patients will spend 20 days on average in hospital in the year after they are first diagnosed.

Breast cancer patients spend the most days – 25 – while men with prostate cancer are in for 10 days.

A quarter have 30 days or more in hospital, Public Health England’s cancer registry figures showed.

PHE’s Prof John Newton said: “Knowing more about what to expect can help people who are just diagnosed with cancer feel more in control.”
