Heat’s on as Lions look out for No.1

-

THE fact England kept their calm enough to fashion an opportunity rather than just lump hopeful balls forward at the end against Scotland on Saturday was to their credit.

They could have panicked but didn’t and are still in a good position to qualify. There were questions around Joe Hart not saving Leigh Griffiths’ free-kicks but I’d only say he could have got to one of them, and that would be if I was feeling ungenerous. That said, I don’t care if it’s Tom Heaton (left), Jordan Pickford, Fraser Forster or Jack Butland, I’d like to see a change in goal against France and for the bulk of the games before Russia next year.

Because we don’t want to go to a tournament with a back-up goalkeeper who has little experience at international level just in case Hart were to get injured – and even more so because he isn’t the keeper he was five years ago.
