In the many extraordinary revelations in Princess Diana’s recently released secret tapes the greatest is that right up until they married she had to call Prince Charles ‘Sir’.

Any pretence that there was any intimacy or love in the relationship ends right there.

Twenty years on from her tragic death it’s clear she was a sacrificial lamb on her way to the slaughter from the moment she met Charles.

It’s little surprise it’s taken her sons so long to talk publicly about their mother’s death when they, above all others, know the dreadful history which led up to it.
