A Great Get Together coming to a place near you...

OLYMPIC PARK Head to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London on Sunday for a giant picnic, live music and dancing, for the final event of The Great Get Together. The day will include African drumming, plus performanc­es from Newham Community Choir and dancers from Sadler’s Wells Theatre. There will also be storytelli­ng, arts and crafts, and circus performers, and egg and spoon races on a 60-metre track. BANKSIDE Bankside Open Spaces Trust is hosting a massive street party in South East London on Sunday. Sponsored by Red Bull, it will feature a dog show, wacky races, a city farm, two music stages and an English village fete with maypole dancing. BIRMINGHAM Birmingham Cathedral will host an #adove4Jo on Saturday, where paper doves made by the local community will be hung from a tree in Cathedral Square. Locals, along with Muslim and Jewish faith leaders, will gather to sign a world map for countries they would like to pray for. YORKSHIRE Hundreds of events will be taking place across Jo’s home county of Yorkshire. English Heritage will hold a picnic at Brodsworth Hall and Gardens, near Doncaster, on Saturday. The RSPB will also be hosting a picnic, at its flagship St Aidan’s reserve in Leeds, on the same day. MANCHESTER On Friday, from 7-10pm, there will be food, drink and live music in Cathedral Square, to remember Jo and the victims of the Manchester terrorist attack. ELSEWHERE Special events will take place on Saturday on the Mersey Ferry in Liverpool and at the West Oxford Beer Festival. On Sunday, Coventry will hold a medieval-themed big lunch and Cardiff Bay will play host to live music.
