Alarm bells rang for me when I read the letter from the widow who says her male companion is very keen to marry her, but she doesn’t think of him in the same way (Dear Coleen, May 3).

Why the need to marry at this point in their lives when they both have grown-up families? She ought to think about protecting her property and other assets.

Socialise in groups – why make a commitment to just one person if your instinct is telling you not to?
