House prices increased by £32 a day in the year to April. The average home’s value was £220,000, up £12,000 in the past year and £3,000 between March and April alone, said the Office for National Statistics. House price inflation has picked up from a recent lull, rising 5.6% year on year. But there are eye-watering variations across the country.
