PUT AN END TO BULLYING

I was extremely upset to read about 14-year-old Sam Abel who took his own life due to relentless bullying (Mirror, June 13). The reason for the bullying? Because he was clever and doing well at school.

Not only was he being physically and mentally abused there but he was also being tormented on social media. The companies involved must take a share of the blame, and the cowards responsible should have their accounts removed.

How many more lives are going to be lost due to bullying? Schools should do much more to protect victims and deal out harsher punishments to bullies. Lorna Twaddle, Arbroath, Angus
