JACK: KEEP THE FAITH
JACK BUTLAND says England have a pool of good keepers – and the challenge is to become the biggest fish. England Under-21 star Jordan Pickford has completed a £30million move to Everton, Joe Hart is still No.1, while Manchester City’s Angus Gunn, Derby youngster Jonny Mitchell and Under-20s hero Freddie Woodman are all ready to step up. Stoke keeper Butland believes increased competition will spur them all on.
Butland (left) said: “For years we’ve had keepers criticised in England, but we’ve got plenty coming through – Freddy has just won the Under-20 World Cup, there’s Angus Gunn and Jonny Mitchell too.
“Bring on the competition, it’s good for me.”
