Market’s ring of steely defiance

-

STALLHOLDERS and visitors unite at Borough Market as its bell is rung to mark the start of trading for the first time since the London Bridge terror atrocity.

The crowd, including Mayor Sadiq Khan and faith leaders, held a minute’s silence yesterday in memory of the eight people killed and dozens injured in the June 3 attack.

The honour of ringing the chimes again went to trader Paul Wheeler, who welled up amid the applause. But he caught the mood of defiance, saying: “The terrorists will never divide us.”
