...while water boss is swimming in money

-

The boss of Britain’s biggest water supplier pocketed a £54,000 bonus – despite profits plunging 86%. Thames Water’s Steve Robertson got the reward for his first six months in the job – part of a £460,000 package. Yet profits crashed from £511million to £71m and the company was fined a record £20m for allowing 1.4 billion litres of raw sewage to flow into the River Thames. It has also agreed to hand £8.6m to customers after missing a leakage target by 47 million litres a day – equivalent to around 20 Olympic-sized swimming pools. Meanwhile, Thames Water’s private owners shared a £100m dividend bonanza.
