2.9m use vapes in a bid to quit

PEOPLE may be ditching the fags, but 2.9 million now use e-cigs, according to a study.

Vapers who still smoke and those who just vape now said the main reason for switching was to quit smoking. The second most common reason was that they perceived vapes to be less harmful.

Across the UK, 5.6% of the population turned to vapes last year. Use among 16 to 24-year-olds increased from 2% in 2015 to 6%, the Office for National Statistics report found.

Of those aged 16 and over, a higher proportion of men, 6.3%, were e-cigarette users compared with 4.9% of women. THE IN CLOUD E-cigarette user
