MOONLIGHT

Digital Now, Disc Monday I’ll never forgive this middling indie drama for stealing the Oscar for best film from La La Land. The marvellous musical was heavily backed to win the top Academy Award, mostly by me. But even with Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty attempting to give the gong to the better film, I was still left out of pocket on the night.

This is a sincere and sensitive coming-out story of an introverted and largely unknowable African American. It’s narrative is hamstrung by having six actors play two characters in a stagey, three-part structure.
