YOU CAN’T HAVE OUR KIDS IF YOU DON’T PLAY THEM

CHELSEA are to warn clubs to forget about taking their rising stars unless they can assure them of regular first-team football.

The champions want their youngsters to gain as much experience as possible and will only sanction moves if they are assured starts.

Chelsea’s Under-20 World Cup-winning defenders Jake Clarke-Salter and Fikayo Tomori are being chased by a string of clubs. Their plan is to send Tomori, who played a role in Brighton’s promotion last season, out to a top Championship or foreign club next season.

Versatile defender Ola Aina is also much sought-after, along with left-back Jay Dasilva and promising midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah.

Striker Tammy Abraham, who was at Bristol City last season, is also being chased by Newcastle and Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem.

Brazilian winger Kenedy was recalled from Watford last season by unimpressed Chelsea because they were unhappy with his lack of game-time.

Patrick Bamford’s loan spell at Burnley was also cut short last season because he played only a bit-part role at Turf Moor.

A number of Championship sides are circling Chelsea’s academy starlets as they are able to loan up to four players from the same club.

A maximum of five loanees in total, however, can be included in an 18-man matchday squad.
