WHAT IS IT?

Transient lingual papillitis (TLP)

-

This is simply a sore tongue. Transient lingual papillitis means swollen tastebuds where your tongue becomes red and tender for a few days. \

They’re also called “lie bumps” from a myth that telling lies caused them.

While the cause of TLP is unknown it’s thought that rubbing, scraping, biting or certain foods can be the culprits. Lie bumps are harmless and only cause minor discomfort.

They typically heal within a few days with no treatment.
