SOUTHAMPTON are on a potential collision course with Crystal Palace over Mauricio Pellegrino. Argentinian boss Pellegrino (below) is on Saints’ radar following their sacking of Claude Puel. But he has also held talks with Palace, setting up a tug-of-war. A Liverpool defender in 2005, Pellegrino left Copa del Rey finalists Alaves last month. Former Ajax and Inter chief Frank de Boer, who was considered before Puel was appointed last summer, is also in the frame at Saints. But ex-Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel is a non-starter. He wants a Champions League club. If Palace decide against going continental with Pellegrino, Burnley’s Sean Dyche is the preferred candidate.
