Queen’s Speech put back two days.. May be more
THERESA May has delayed the Queen’s Speech for two days as talks go on with DUP.
Even Tory MPs were in uproar yesterday after the Prime Minister put back the State Opening of Parliament to next Wednesday. The Queen is due at Royal Ascot.
Tory MP Tim Loughton tweeted: “Having p*ssed off most pensioners with our manifesto, PM determined to include our most pre-eminent one too.”
Mrs May said Brexit negotia- tions start on Monday in Brussels as planned.
She will later rely on hard-right DUP’s 10 MPs to get the Queen’s Speech through the Commons.
A senior Tory source said there was “broad agreement” on its principles, despite Mrs May being yet to finalise a deal – which overshadowed her talks with Northern Irish parties yesterday over restoring power-sharing at Stormont.
Sinn Fein’s Gerry Adams said: “We told her that she is in breach of the Good Friday Agreement.”
