Tight security for giant gem
A RARE 4ft-tall emerald dug up in Brazil last month is being constantly moved between secret locations.
The owner, who bought the cluster of gems from a mining consortium, said crooks would need a forklift truck to steal it but the risk of a heist was still high.
He said: “I cannot take any chances with my family’s lives by keeping the stone in one place.”
The emerald, dug up in Carnaiba, north east Brazil, is unusual due to its “considerable size and quality”. It could fetch £238million if sold on.
