SHOTGUN TEEN’S ‘PLOT FOR SCHOOL MASSACRE’

- BY JOSH PAYNE and PAUL BEARD mirrornews@mirror.co.uk

A BOY took a shotgun to school planning a US-style slaughter but decided against it, a court heard.

The 15-year-old removed the gun and 200 cartridges from his dad’s secure cabinet because he felt angry and meant to harm “someone else, anyone”. But he had a late “change of heart” and rang 999 himself, saying he wanted to end his life.

Armed cops swooped on the school in Nuneaton, Warks, after he raised the alarm. Leamington Youth Court heard the incident could have had an “appalling” outcome like a string of American school massacres such as Sandy Hook or Columbine High.

Prosecutor Omar Majid said the teen took the double-barrelled gun without the knowledge of his dad, who held a certificate for it. Mr Majid added: “When interviewed he said he intended to harm people and regretted his actions.”

The teen admitted possessing the gun and ammo with intent to endanger life.

He was put under a 7pm-7am curfew and bailed for crown court sentencing.
