More than a third of workers made redundant last year were over 50. Pensions specialist JUST says it’s more difficult for older people to find jobs so they can’t continue saving into a pension and may be forced to dip into pots too early.

Atom Bank has increased savings rates, with a one-year fix at 1.8%, two-year at 2% and 2.2% over three years. Accounts have to be opened and managed via the Atom app which is downloadable from Apple or Android Play stores.
