Booze plea of Spanish cops

POLICE in Majorca and Ibiza have called on travel chiefs to curb the sale of alcohol after a string of drunken fights involving British tourists.

Jose Maria Manso, boss of the Profession­al Police Union in the Balearic Islands, accused airlines and airport authoritie­s of putting profit before safety.

In an open letter, he questioned why “an airport binge with a serious knockon effect for everyone’s safety” was allowed, while smoking was banned.
