Fury at £499 Lotto prize for five balls

- BY ADAM ASPINALL

LOTTO punters were fuming after “poor” payouts on Saturday’s draw when no one scooped the jackpot.

Five players won £16,123 for getting five numbers and the bonus ball.

And a some 170 punters had five numbers, but won just £499.

Sandra Leonard, of Exeter, said yesterday: “This is very poor. To win just £500 is rubbish.”

Regular player Joyce Fell said: “With the extra numbers and continuous rollovers, Lotto have shot themselves in the foot.”

A Camelot spokesman said the lower payout was because more players than usual got five numbers.

Lotto bosses sparked anger by increasing the number of balls from 49 to 59 in 2015, making jackpot three times less likely.
