Losing the Battle
Several new programmes were launched on Saturday night but it seems the BBC might just have hit the wrong note with Pitch Battle.
The singing contest, presented by Mel Giedroyc, only managed two million viewers, well behind ITV show The Voice Kids on 3.2 million. In fact, Pitch Battle was almost beaten in the ratings by Blind Date on Channel 5.
The dating show’s relaunch attracted 1.7 million viewers, which is more than double the slot average.
Channel controller Ben Frow said: “We are really pleased that so many people came to Channel 5 to watch the launch of Blind Date and hope they enjoy the rest of the series.”
