Chantilly Shutdown

- BY DAVID YATES

SHUTTER SPEED faded into fourth and Rhododendron was pulled up as Senga sprang a shock in the Prix de Diane at Chantilly yesterday.

The Frankie Dettoriridden favourite had no answer to the Pascal Bary-trained Senga — sent off a 21-1 shot on the French tote — and Stéphane Pasquier, who scored from Sistercharlie and Terrakova.

John Gosden, who had won the Oaks with Enable, said of Shutter Speed: “She had a wide draw in stall 14 and she’s run really well.”

Gosden, who had chosen to bypass Epsom with the previously unbeaten Shutter Speed, added: “A mile and a quarter looks her limit.”

Aidan O’Brien reported of Rhododrendron, pulled up by Ryan Moore on the run to the home turn: “She burst a blood vessel.”
