Pay cap staff cut food bills

-

WORKERS are cutting back on groceries and borrowing cash due to the 1% pay cap, a poll shows.

Over three quarters of public sector staff have cut down on food shopping, while more than half have taken loans from family or friends. One in 10 skip meals to feed their children, a survey by the Unison union has revealed.

Dave Prentis, Unison general secretary, said: “A caring society should not allow people to be treated in this shoddy way.”
