AMIR’S A MENACE NOW...BUT YOU AIN’T SEEN NOTHING YET

- BY DEAN WILSON

INTERNATIONAL batsmen have been warned: The best is yet to come from Mohammad Amir. And when he has just demolished the most dangerous top order in the game to win a Champions Trophy, that is a frightening prospect. But that is what his former Under-19 skipper and current Pakistan team-mate Imad Wasim reckons after seeing him return to the game after a five-year ban and deliver on the biggest stage.

Far from ending his career, the jail term for spot-fixing and the subsequent time out of the game has merely served to delay his world-beating performances.

“He’s always been worldclass, and is a big-match player,” said Wasim.

“Whatever happened, happened, but now he’s the No.1 bowler in Pakistan cricket.

“After five years out, you can imagine how tough he is mentally. The best is yet to come from him.”
