Call for home dopplers ban

-

HOME doppler machines for checking the heartbeat of unborn babies should be banned, experts warn.

Charity Kicks Count said the devices may fail to detect imminent stillbirth.

And the Royal College of Midwives said it is easy to confuse the mum’s sounds with those of the baby.

Kicks Count chief executive Elizabeth Hutton said: “Midwives and doctors train for years to interpret what they hear through a doppler. It is a medical device, not an object to be used for entertainment.”
