Pressed GPs fail mothers
TENS of thousands of new mums are failed by harried doctors who don’t detect mental health problems.
Half of all mothers suffer an issue while pregnant or in a child’s first year but four in 10 of those go undiagnosed, says the National Childbirth Trust.
Sarah McMullen, of the NCT, said: “It is shocking that so many new mothers aren’t getting help.”
She blamed rushed sixweek checks and said extra funding would help reduce the pressure on GPs.
