ENGLAND manager Terry Venables sent out a message that his team would triumph for the fans ahead of their Euro 96 clash with Spain.

Venables called on the Wembley crowd to lift his side. The quarterfin­al clash ended goalless but the hosts went through after winning 4-2 on penalties. England lost on spot-kicks in the semi-final to eventual winners Germany.
